PVPB MISSION STATEMENT

Paloma Valley PONY Baseball is part of PONY Baseball Association, “Protect Our Nations Youth”. PVPB seeks to provide a youth baseball league that will help young people grow into healthier and happier adults and to teach baseball to the youth of our community. Keeping in mind the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, and courage. The attainment of exceptional skill or the winning of games shall be secondary to the primary goal of molding ethical individuals through the "COMPLETE" game of baseball.

Why PONY is the ELITE League

Pony Baseball is different then other youth baseball leagues in many ways. The rules of play are designed to maximize player development and minimize chance of injury. Players 4-14 years old are placed in divisions strictly by age at two year intervals so that kids are competing with others their same age. Field dimensions (base paths and pitching distance) are gradually expanded with each division to match the growth and development of young players. This ensures that all players will compete on a field that matches their abilities and improves safety concerns that can occur when older players are on fields that are too small. Most importantly, young players are introduced to more advanced rules at younger ages so that they are challenged with new baseball concepts as they grow. This includes: * Coach Pitch by age 6 * Introduction to kid-pitch at age 7 * Leading off and base stealing beginning at age 9 * Pitchers learn pick-off moves and balks at age 9 * Fielders and base runners play "live-ball" rules by age 9 * Catchers learn more advanced defensive skills * Dropped third strike rules are introduced at age 9 These are the elements that make up "The Complete Game" that is exclusive to Pony Baseball. It is no wonder that so many local travel-ball and high school players develop their skills by playing Pony Baseball. So if your child would like to lead-off and steal a base, pick a runner off first, and learn to play baseball like the major-leaguers, then Pony Baseball is for you.
